Angry young man AB senior and Vinod Khanna, heroines with "Chost" pants,Kishore Kumar's eternal voice and RD Burman's melodious music, stylish and highly inspired from Hollywood villains, fight sequences with heavily packed background noise and above all an all-weather suffering mother Nirupa Roy. That is all which made a golden decade of bollywood films which me and a lot of like minded movie fans prefer to address as the golden 70's. Today while having lunch at a theme restaurant in Hyderabad whose theme is centered around this genre of films, i instantly decide to write my first blog post.
I have always been fascinated by the most stylish era of bollywood. In my personal life too i am deeply moved by them. Being single still at the age of 26(sometimes which i and my friend with same fate consider a positive point as we believe that we will get married to girls more beautiful than those who rejected us due to lack of good choice) i believe that it is only the people who follow and copy heroes like SRK and Saif Ali Khan are being given chance to change their relationship status to committed in social networking sites. Had it been the golden 70 when Big B's angry young man image was the solo criteria to win girls' heart i would have excelled in the department of romance. This is the true reason of my issue with SRK rather than his decision of taking away captaincy from Dada or buying a overpriced Bangladeshi so-called fast bowler for his IPL team. Confession time you see.
However 70's (hence forward the golden age will be referred by this number) has many more charming and exciting things other than angry young man. I wonder how brilliant villains were in those days. Remember the far-sighted Dabur from Deewar? It took him less time to identify the potential don in little Amitabh (not Baby B) than lalit modi took to identify the limitless opportunities of IPL. Or the torture chamber of Shakaal in Shakti. We don't see that brilliance in today roadies people too.
That all for today guys. Time to listen some golden tracks from that period.
